Our restaurant is laid out to accommodate 40 people, which leaves generous room for customers to sit and enjoy their food in a relaxed style and to be well looked after by our staff. If needed for a large party, our restaurant can be laid to seat a party of about 50. It also has dividing doors in the middle, so can be laid to accommodate more than one party at a time.

Restaurant opening hours:
Mon to Sat 12pm - 2.30pm and 6pm - 9.30pm
Sunday 12pm - 2.15pm and 6pm - 9pm

Our chefs endeavour to look after our customers and if it is lunchtime and you are pressed for time, the staff will strive to make sure your needs are looked after, but for usual dining and eating, we are not a fast food establishment. We do our utmost though, to make sure our customers are well looked after and are neither rushed, nor neglected.

Like some of today's modern ideas, our food is, as much as possible, locally sourced. Our loyal and lifelong butcher is 200 yards from the hotel and probably one of the best in the country. He provides us with well-hung beef, local lamb and pork, homemade sausage and bacon you can't see through. He also comes in for a drink to check everything is alright. Our poultry, duck and smoked produce come from Ashley Maundei's fine establishment, where the old rugby legend is running one of the finest farm shops in Somerset and this is only a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

Our fresh fish is delivered daily from Bridport from the Lyme Bay area and also from Matthew Stevens in St Ives. We, ourselves, also travel to Bere to collect fish for the hotel. When we have time and if we are "really lucky", our fine bunch of locals "The Back Bar Fishing Team" may bring some home, but this may take an act of God!

We now have the finest ingredients and I rely on my team of first class chefs to turn all these lovely things into a first class meal. For our customers, we offer "Daily Specials", a Bar Snack menu at lunchtime and a full à La Carte menu in the evening. One of our chef's is a specialist in looking after vegetarians. We try to cater for all needs and make our customers feel truly welcome. We are very proud of our Traditional Fayre.
